Season’s Restaurant, located at Highland Lake Inn & Resort, is excited to welcome Executive Chef Alphonso Piper Jr. While Chef Al is not new to the Season’s team, his recent promotion to Executive Chef is a reflection of his culinary passion and enthusiastic personality. Season’s Restaurant has always been committed to providing a premier dining experience and Chef Al has delivered on this promise consistently.
Chef Al is a native of Smithfield, NC, and started his professional culinary career in Savannah, GA at Pacci Italian Kitchen. Longing to return back to his North Carolina roots, Alphonso became Sous Chef at The Katharine Brasserie in Winston-Salem, NC, and most recently Sous Chef at the Stable Café at The Biltmore Estate. Alphonso is a strong believer in farm to table ingredients that are fresh and local. “Bringing the simplest ingredients to life and creating bold flavors” is Chef Al’s focus whenever he’s in the kitchen. His culinary foundation is credited to his Grandmother Mary, Aunt Gwen, and Chef Dusty.
Chef Al has been an integral part of the Season’s team and his dedication is sure to take the dining experience to a new level. One of the best ways to observe the talents of Chef Al is at Season’s monthly wine dinner. Together with a guest sommelier, he guides guests through a culinary experience that revolves around regional ingredients and culture. It’s a great opportunity to listen to his vision and then taste it for yourself!
